A 451-yard single-game rushing performance tends to draw a little attention.
For Beech junior Jalen Hurd, the effort reverberated nearly 400 miles north
Hurd, who posted the third-best rushing total in Tennessee high school history during the Buccaneers’ 55-41 win at Henry County on Aug. 24, confirmed Tuesday that he received a scholarship offer over Labor Day weekend from Notre Dame.
The 6-3, 210-pounder, who has 945 rushing yards in three games, also has offers from Alabama, Michigan, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio State, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
“My top five is Alabama, Ohio State, Vandy, Ole Miss and Michigan,” Hurd said Tuesday. “Vanderbilt is very serious. They’re the hometown team. I’ve always liked Vanderbilt, growing up. They’re like home. And Coach (James) Franklin is doing a great job.”
Hurd attended Thursday’s Vanderbilt-South Carolina game. A former teammate, MBA junior lineman Jashon Robertson, has already committed to Vanderbilt.
